On Halloween night, a magnetic storm swept across the planet

Halloween night has turned out to be unexpectedly intense. Less than an hour ago—around 10 p.m. Moscow time—a G2-level geomagnetic storm began on a planetary scale. As recently as this morning, all forecasts indicated calm conditions, so this has come as quite a surprise, to put it mildly. After more than a full day of contending with plasma from a coronal hole, the magnetosphere has, it seems, simply grown exhausted.
Right now, high-intensity auroras are being recorded across the world!
