A sharp surge in solar activity is evident in images from space telescopes and coronagraphs. The primary indicator is a series of plasma ejections along the star's left (eastern) limb. It appears that the sources of these explosions lie beyond the solar limb—on the far side—and are currently invisible from Earth; consequently, there is no information regarding the specific events unfolding there.
The only spacecraft capable of periodically venturing to the far side and capturing such images—the European *Solar Orbiter*—happens to be positioned on the Earth-facing side of its orbit right now, meaning it sees the same view as near-Earth telescopes.
From their current location, the solar materials cannot yet reach Earth. For the planet to face any risk, this activity would need to persist for another 4–5 days. During that time, the hidden active regions driving the explosions would need to rotate onto the visible solar disk and approach the Sun–Earth line.
However, a preliminary idea of the situation could be gained sooner—within the next 1–2 days. Presumably, the sunspot groups currently situated beyond the limb will cross the horizon and finally become visible during this period. At the very least, this will allow for an assessment of their size and potential energy reserves.
