A cloud of protons struck spacecraft located at the L1 Lagrange point in front of the Earth.
Spacecraft positioned on the Sun-Earth line, 1.5 million kilometers from the planet, have just been struck by a cloud of fast protons ejected from the flare core. Solar particles are clearly visible in incoming images: the particles pass through the optical system and strike the telescope's detectors, creating easily recognizable "snow"-like traces. Such events are a sign of very strong flares and have been observed, among other things, before the G5 magnetic storms of October 2003 and May 2024.
Currently, the cloud's movement toward Earth and the arrival of solar material at the planet are considered definitively confirmed. Information about a 20-degree shift in the center of the ejection relative to the Sun-Earth line also remains valid, raising hopes that the impact on Earth will be partially mitigated.
