Strong magnetic storms are occurring on Earth.

Geomagnetic index Kp from November 11, 2025

Planet-scale magnetic storms were registered on Earth around midnight Moscow time. Currently, the geomagnetic index Kp is in the range from G2 to G3, that is, from moderate to strong storms.

The cause of the storms is clear and, unfortunately, rather unpleasant. Plasma emissions from the very first flares reached Earth. These flares occurred 2-3 days ago, when the active centers were still at the very edge of the Sun and, according to the forecast, had no chance of affecting the planet at all from this position. This means that the plasma clouds are now being ejected not radially, but with an initial offset towards Earth, and, in addition, have significantly greater propagation angles and speeds than previously assumed in calculations. This leads to rather pessimistic thoughts about the forecast for tomorrow.

The storm and disturbances will last about a day, and, most likely, will not stop at all, since tomorrow they will simply move into the main phase, when the main masses of ejected plasma will begin to arrive at the Earth, triggering even stronger geomagnetic processes.
