A magnetic storm occurs depending on the average to independence

Around 3:00 AM Moscow time, the sudden onset of a G2.3 magnetic storm, ranging between moderate and strong, was recorded. This event is associated with the solar flares of November 5-6, 2025. The planet was nevertheless grazed by the edge of one of the plasma clouds, the bulk of which, expected yesterday, clearly passed by the planet. As a result, the magnetic storm graph for the past two days has a rather odd appearance. It depicts the beginning of a geomagnetic event in the first half of November 7, associated with a coronal hole, and its end, associated with the "tail" of one of the plasma clouds that has now arrived. Between them, where the main geomagnetic influence should have been, there is nothing—the ejected masses of solar material, expected to arrive at this time, simply passed by the Earth.

Overall, over the past three days, from the 6th to the 8th, the strongest storms in more than a month were observed (and are still being observed). The last similar event occurred on October 1-3, 2025. However, the number of green insets on the graph clearly shows that things could have been much more intense, and the event actually followed an unexpectedly favorable scenario. In some calculations, these three days should have been completely shaded red. A particularly large peak was expected yesterday afternoon. The question of how near-frontal mass ejections, forming a complete halo, were able to "dissolve" on their way to Earth remains relevant, but has now shifted from practical concerns to scientific ones.

It should be noted that the geomagnetic event turned out to be very unfavorable for people hoping to see the auroras. As can be seen from the graph, bursts of geomagnetic activity occurred exclusively during daylight hours (for time zones in the central part of the country), while the dark night hours were all colored green. However, such things, of course, happen from time to time.

Geomagnetic warnings remain in effect for the coming days due to continued elevated solar activity. However, no solar flares of comparable intensity to the one expected yesterday are currently among them. At the same time, the solar activity surge is not over, and the risk of further strong flares remains.
