The Sun experienced its third most powerful flare in 2025-2026.

X4.21 flare of February 4, 2026

A major event (the third most powerful flare of 2025-2026, level X4.21) occurred directly opposite Earth today at 3:13 PM Moscow time. If plasma ejection from its epicenter is confirmed, the explosion, given its location and power, could lead to an exceptionally powerful impact on the planet. However, no signs of material escaping into interplanetary space have been detected so far. A very strong pulsed increase in radiation has been recorded in the area of the explosion. The event is still ongoing. Subsequent bursts are possible.
