Black Explosion
A beautiful and rare "black" solar flare occurred last night. The solar explosion tore apart and scattered a cloud of dense, cold hydrogen gas across the solar disk for about a million kilometers. The dark, faintly glowing, cold material, visible against the bright disk, created a stunning illusion for several hours: either a ghostly black flame dancing in the solar atmosphere, or a mysterious dark fog that shrouded a third of the solar disk for several hours. As befits a ghost, by morning the black cloud had completely melted—the cold plasma had partially dissipated, and most had simply evaporated under the pressure of the sun's unbearable heat.
