A moderate magnetic storm has begun
A moderate-level magnetic storm is occurring on Earth. This event is associated with an incoming stream of fast solar wind, formed by a rather unusually shaped coronal hole. The total duration of the disturbances is expected to be approximately three days. The storm may intensify overnight from Friday to Saturday due to the arrival of a weak mass ejection toward the planet.
The most recent strong geomagnetic event occurred on March 21 and 22, accompanied by very intense auroras. If the next geomagnetic disturbances persist at the current level until at least this evening, a new intensification of the auroral oval is very possible, including over the European part of the country.
